Wonderful [livejournal.com profile] doseybat put a bandage-type thing on my knee yesterday which steadied it and helped a lot, since then the pain reduced to a dull ache when I moved it - a day of rest and massaging my knee seemed to do it well, and by yesterday evening I was limping around the house which not too much difficulty.
Today it seems even better, and while I can still feel something up with it, it's only a minor irritation and I can almost walk normally with the bandage on. I braved the journey into work, and here I am. Hooray! *hugs* to all those who offered support.

Clearing out my old inbox, which i check very infrequently, I find this:

Dear Dr Snellgrove

We asked you whether you would be willing to referee the MNRAS
submission by Cionco, of ref. ME770 on 2004 July 6 but have not
yet received a response from you. Please let me know by return
whether you are able to referee the paper.

Regards,

Liz Hoffman

In a protest against a wind farm, a village has renamed itself

Llanhyfryddawelllehyn-afolybarcudprindanfygy-thiadtrienusyrhafnauole

which means:

"a quiet beautiful village, an historic place with rare kite under threat from wretched blades"

and this is now the longest place name in the UK. *amused*

Wales still scares me.

Being stuck at home yesterday wasn't entirely a bad thing. The unexpected bonus of extra leisure time led into a creative spurt, and so I indulged in some Impressionist-like doodling on a paint package:

Venice )

More like that to follow, If I think people would like it.
