Oh my. This is very shiny. I wish it had existed when I was doing my PhD, it would have made everything so much easier. So, being egotistical, I couldn’t resist doing a search for Snellgrove. And go me, for I am there at 2 and 3, above my great uncle david’s tibetan books at 5 and 6. Yay! Sadly the profound writings on Hormonal Sex Manipulation in Catfish, and Fungal Symbiont in Leeks are nothing to do with my family, alas.

I think my favourite has to be "Experimental Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia in the ferret" (second page).

I have a (real) album credit for engineering Kirlian Camera's 'Live in London'...

But yes, the real thing. Kirlian photography -- I've wanted to try it ever since reading about it back in the 1970s. It sounded a bit dangerous, though, so I never quite got it together to put the necessary bits and pieces in place. The photographic paper/film would be easy enough to handle and process, but I wasn't very keen on putting hefty (as in, presumably, ionising, or it wouldn't affect the film) amounts of RF into a metal plate anywhere near me.

It is mostratherexcellent I think. I managed to find a citation for an unpublished paper I wrote whilst at Oxford, back in 1992. Sadly, I didn't find the paper itself, but I at least know who to email to see if they happen to have a copy. It also had my 1991 Master's thesis, which had six citations (!), even though it's never been available online. Four of the citations were from my own papers, but there were two others I didn't know about.

Wheee!

I'm currently attempting a cryptanalytic (i.e. sneaky maths rather than brute force) attack on MD5. Which is being rather fun! I like my job sometimes.

I don't suppose your good self and/or Catt will be around Leytonstone tonight, would you? I'm going away at the weekend so I should probably pick up my rucksack, but Bat was saying that it would be nice to see either/both of you (which I'd like lots too), and since we're going to be meeting up in Leytonstone anyway... *small hopeful smile*?

I'm going to see my friend Caroline up in Newcastle. The plan is I'm driving up there on Friday (which means I can't go to the ceilidh, boo hiss), spending saturday and sunday there, then on Monday I'm going to go and visit family (just south of there), and then drive across to the Lake District, where I'll be at a mini-conference/workshop/thingy for a couple of days. I'll not be back until Wednesday night. I'm actually rather looking forward to it -- the workshop is in a hotel on the shore of Lake Windermere, which should be lovely. I'm a bit concerned about snow, though -- as you're from up in that direction, you'll know what I mean! :-)

Yah boo about missing you and the calling. Sorry about that. :-(

I'm more concerned about driving across the A69 actually, but it's not too bad for blocking. Now if I decided to drive past my old house and go via Alston, it might be a quite different experience. I really *did* need a 4 wheel drive when I lived there (without which I'd be stuck in the valley for weeks on end during winter), which gave me a great feeling of superiority over the shopping mums with their SUVs. :)

If the weather is bad, I'll probably leave my car in Newcastle and take the train, then probably go back by train to pick it up after the workshop. It would give me a good excuse for an extra night in Newcastle, if nothing else! :-)

Nooo, it's no bother. I have other bags which are fine for going in the car -- it was mostly a fallback thing if I was going to end up going by train. :-)

We should meet up soon though, if you fancy it.

Whooooooo! Clever Mark. :)

There are so many Comptons that I had to search for my father using his initials as well, but once I did that it wasn't hard to find him (http://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&lr=&q=%22AJ+Compton%22&btnG=Search). *smiles*

(He's the medical electronics rather than the paediactrics *g*)
