Saturday saw the creation of one of the fabbiest pieces of fabness ever! Together a foolish band of 13 of us conspired to make one of [livejournal.com profile] mirabehn's dreams a reality, and we recreated the Lord of the Rings radio series. All 13 episodes (each 1 hour long) with sound effects, music, singing, everything....the works. And.....it was something beautiful, moving and truly touched all present. Words cannot do it justice, although for those who want them, are available here and on various peoples livejournals. Instead I'll mention how fab everyone there was, how in awe I was at everyones singing (including the shy [livejournal.com profile] kmazzy) and that I have many many very wonderful talented friends that I almost feel I don't deserve to be around, given my general lack of singing, acting or musical talent in any way whatsoever. My gollum was very un-gollum-like and my Legolas, despite [livejournal.com profile] the_alchemist's best efforts, didn't seem to know Quenya at all. Everyone else there was fab. So, special hugs to [livejournal.com profile] yvesilena for capturing Sam's accent perfectly, [livejournal.com profile] andrewwyld for Shagrat's absurd French accent, [livejournal.com profile] kmazzy for being the cutest ever Merry, [livejournal.com profile] purplepiano for the fab music, [livejournal.com profile] spindlemere for the scary Voice of Sauron, [livejournal.com profile] the_alchemist for being a very good Galadriel and teaching us all Quenya (and yummy vegan Thai soup!), [livejournal.com profile] leonato for being a very manly Aragorn *wink*, [livejournal.com profile] gnimmel for the superb Gandalf, [livejournal.com profile] evil_nick for the eldritch screams, [livejournal.com profile] ixwin for the very touching Eowyn she just *is*, [livejournal.com profile] smhwpf for just being Treebeard, and [livejournal.com profile] mirabehn for somehow managing to find the energy to organize the whole thing. Yaaaaaaay! :)

Gosh, I've been a bit gushing.....but that's how I feel about the whole thing....I love you all and hope to catch up with all of you soon. *happyhappysmiles*

I'm sorry, but you were not un-gollum-like. I thought you got a sense of his speech patterns brilliantly - and the slinker/stinker scene was perfect.

I could also go through a list of the things I thought were wrong with my performances but I doubt it'd help anyone.

Let's just say I agree with [livejournal.com profile] mirabehn's assessment of everyone including you.

(Thankyou, by the way. I've never thought of myself as particularly Eowyn like - I concentrated on delivering each line as well as I could rather than having an overall 'character' in mind, so I'm really glad it came together in other people's heads)

Here here!

Good point - I could do the same for mine, and 'twould be just as useless.

*grin* It certainly did come together. Although it was your Boromir that impressed me most.

eeeeeeee!!! Well you're doubly brave and impressive in that case. And you covered for your fear very well. :)

I want to host lots more readthroughs when Nick and I are living in our nice accessible (albeit small) flat, and we'll be sure to invite you.

*hugggggggggggggggggggggggs*

Oh yes!

I keep forgetting about Smeagol and Deagol, but that exchange was brilliant! And Liz, your dying gurgles were absolutely horrible. Fantastic. :)

eeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I for one am not about to complain about gushing. :)

*flutters eyelashes* but don't I get a compliment on my acting too?? *sulks*

*wink*

Your Gollum was *superb*, so ner. :) Thoroughly unsettling, and yet pitiable - brilliant. And you should have seen the facial expressions Kathryn was making every time you spoke as Legolas! I don't think she had any complaints... *grin*

Poor Legolas. Clearly he doesn't speak much Elvish and was an outcast from Mirkwood as a result. But he still got to take Gimli over the Sundering Seas in the appendices, which I always feel is just the cutest thing ever...

*blushes happily*

eeeeeeeeee. :D

Thank you. :)

Gosh, I'm such a compliment slut!

*giggles*

I'd no idea my Legolas voice was causing that sort of reaction in Kathryn. My my! :)

*grin*

I was forever restraining myself from making him sound too camp, but then some of his lines about Gimli's 'Sturdy legs' just went a bit too far. :)

"You comfort me, Gimli! And I am glad to have you standing nigh with your stout legs and your hard axe".

hehehe!

dearie me, you've set my mind wandering again....

*grin*

There was a fantastic misprint (my fault entirely - and completely accidental!) that almost no one noticed apart from me, and that only after Chris (as Pippin) had said it.

There is a bit in the Houses of Healing where Pippin talks to Merry, referring to "your bed".

And I'd accidentally left off the "y"...

*giggle* In that, I think I had the best line in the whole script. :)

Yay!! I think you're right. :D

And don't think the one about Merry and Pippin sharing a bed didn't get loud sirens going off on my slash-dar (like a gaydar but...umm...). I'd no idea it was a typo, and just accepted it as part of what Merry and Pippin do together. Ahem. :) Yay for slashy typos :)

*grin* Says something about Merry and Pippin that their slashy typos don't cause much fuss simply because they already get such a loud siren on the slash-dars already!
