Yesterday there appeared this pretty yellow bird on the ledge outside our office window. For some reason known only to itself it's been ramming the window at high speed all day, making a loud *bang* every time it hits the glass. Very pretty bird, but very stupid bird. We think it's either trying to attack, or possibly mate with its reflection. At first this was amusing, but then it got really really annoying and distracting ... all this *bang* *bang* *bang* all day long. We blacked out the windows this morning, but that didn't stop the stupid bird attack. It's still attacking the window. So, ideas, ingenious or silly, are welcome on how to stop this stupid bird annoying us all!

Replace the window with a net?

Sit there until you see it coming next and then leap up behind the window going "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH" and being as scary as you possibly can.

Open the window? A bit of a high-risk strategy, but if it's annoyed at its reflection then that might solve the problem, and if it's knocking because it wants to come in then you'll at least have given it what it wants....

Put a cut-out hawk sillouette in the window.

And then Mark is left with the problem of how to remove a bird from a room, and how to get the smell of bird shit out of carpets, which is not easy.

I was going to suggest a photograph of a cat!

The smell of a cat might be more effective.

Did you black the window from the inside or ourside? If it was the inside it's reflection will be clearer. . . try the outside? If not, how about putting something on the window ledge, if it's perching there?

Turn up the music? Shoot it with a waterpistol?

Actually, target practice with a water pistol would probably be the most effective way of dealing with it. Or [livejournal.com profile] feanelwa's one of playing Big Bad Catmonster. Mark could even wear a pair of cat ears and a tail and give the rest of the office a good laugh whilst he's at it! %-D

I'm not sure robins understand the concept of camp. It will probably suffice to be big and moving.
