She shares my bed...
Aug. 1st, 2004 11:33 pmShe's taken up residence in my bed. Her name is Azi and she's got lovely blue eyes and a welcoming smile. She has impeccable dress sense and decorates her long dark hair with pretty lace. She's quiet and obedient, is incredibly cute and is nice to snuggle up to. My perfect woman?
Time to admit that she's about 30cm tall and is full of stuffing. My love life reaches yet another new low.

Awwwww. So how did I acquire this little ball of cuteness? On saturday I was being fanboy to my favourite band, the wonderful RazorBladeKisses. Thusly and quite insanely I travelled all the way out to Winchester to see them playing in the back room of a pub (yep, well over the top dedication is me). Normally the pretty Layla (
daevas) and Azi sing lovely duets, which I find a major appeal of thir sound. On arrival Layla sadly informed me Azi was feeling ill. *sob* So in a moment of genius she'd cleverly made a doll of Azi, dressed just the same as her. Awwwwwwww. Layla sang onstage on her own with the doll. At first I was slightly disappointed, as I'd gotten very used to the harmony of two singers in the sound of RBK and there was a strong sense of something lacking. About 3 songs in this feeling faded, and I noticed for the first time what a strong singer Layla is on her own, and this made me happy again - she managed to carry the whole set solo and I loved it, which was a wonderful achievement. Yay. Admittedly there were signs of nervousness in Layla's eyes, but overall the band was massively more confident than last time I saw them - the presence was greater, the stage banter was hilarious and even played an unplanned encore. I even found myself singing along to songs I believe are not yet recorded and only know them from hearing them at previous gigs (which shows how much of a sad fanboy I am. ah well). The poor Azi doll got thrown around a bit during the set, and at the end guess who ended up with it? *smallsmile* I looked after the poor doll and straightened her hair out and everything. And Layla is a total sweetie as she not only got me a drink but let me take the doll home with me. Which makes me very happy.
PLUS, I had a fab time on Friday night dancing away at a fun Scottish Ceilidh in Camden - met up with people first for pub and noodles, and found them to be a wonderfully eclectic mix of people from my present and past, namely
doseybat,
bfo,
dextress,
phlebas,
hatter and
rillaith, before heading to Cecil Sharp House and dancing some fun and occasionally very silly dances. Yaaaay. I hope to get along to this sort of thing semi-regularly from now on. Plus I picked up a flyer which is helping me find more advanced dancing classes. *excited*
Today
snow_leopard took me out to Twickenham, where a lot of black-clad goths descended on a very pretty garden by the side of the Thames for a picnic. The garden is dominated by a massive and breathtaking exquisite Italian-style fountain, adorned with horses and nymphs, and was where The Cure filmed the video for "The Hanging Garden". The picnic was lovely and relaxed, and I was happy to meet and talk with lots of new and exciting people. There was squirrel feeding and parakeet spotting. And absinthe. And then they found out I was ticklish. Oooops. Still, It was fun. *bounce*
And after all that, suddenly my social calender is looking highly empty for much of August. Help me fill it up! I'd like to get out and see people. *hopefulsmile*

Date: 2004-08-02 05:27 am (UTC)You are going to be in for quite a shock - your mum's flat looks *completely* different now. You know they took your bed away??? *waaaah*
Twickenham looked very nice. Lovely area, aside from the constant noise of planes overhead. Didn't see any abandoned swimming pools lying around, but sounds intriguing.
Sorry!
Date: 2004-08-02 10:13 am (UTC)I know I'll be in for a shock. Apparently I now have a bed though.
My plane is due to land just before 8 in the evening. So realistically I should be home about 10ish. I don't think popping around might be much of an option at that time!
But I'll speak to you (and see you) soon
fatval (gr, I hate my stomach :-<)

See you soon! :)
