Moomin chocolates!!
Nov. 29th, 2005 11:40 pm( Fashion test )
Mmmmm.....is that a longhand way of telling me that I’m a Fop, darlings? *amused*
I love my work - today we had some Finnish partners over, and they brought Moomin chocolate advent calenders for everyone, all the way from Helsinki. So now I have 2 chocolate advent calendars, one with yummy Finnish chocolate, and the other the Fairtrade Divine chocolate one which people said is nice. Yay chocolate!

Train fares are silly
Nov. 29th, 2005 12:47 amSo, I’m booking a train to Lancaster for Christmas, and boggling at the strange prices this country has. Cheapest return ticket at this point is now £60.40. Ouch. I felt slightly better, and rather confused when I saw the exact same journey can be made with 2 FIRST CLASS single tickets for £60. And so I am therefore going first class (er...yay?)
Does anybody else get this, or is it just Virgin Trains out to confuse me?

Good things and bad thing
Nov. 28th, 2005 12:37 amGood things: Helping
cassielalone empty her wallet on many pretty things on a shopping spree of doom around the boudoirs of London, buying pretty japanese sake cups and chasing away the winter cold with nice properly warm sake, catching up with Meg at the smallest party in the world, rewatching Howl’s Moving Castle and lots of Buffy, and indulging in lots of snuggling. It was good. I'm very happy. Oh and I’m going to Sweden for new year (lots of yay!). I've got severe snow-anticipation. *squeeee*
Bad thing: Hearing that some horrible nasty scum spiked
daevas‘s drink, and she got taken to hospital. I’m really worried. I hope she’s OK. Bad things shouldn’t happen to nice people. It’s really scary the things nasty people do. *terrified*

RIP
tals (real name Endel Öpik), who died of a suspected heart attack aged only 37
It’s devastating. Nobody should die that young, and no person could come close to replacing Tal. A fun and really decent person, he was one of the heros of Picnic and Piracy, there was Tal, master of the high seas here in Leytonstone. His presence (and height...!) filled the Elsinore at Whitby, and he was always fun to chat to, and always had something interesting and cheeky to say, or something about ickle pixies. Or he was attempting to tempt me with that big grin to various dubious parties. So many memories....but that’s we have now, just memories of Tal. I never even made it to last Whitby, so didn’t get to see him then, which makes it all worse, and makes me feel very sad indeed.
And now he’s gone, but with a smile, to that big party in the sky. I hope it’s a better place.
I’ve run out of words to say. It’s all such a shock.

Chocolate advent calender hunt
Nov. 21st, 2005 06:22 pmThorntons have already sold out of chocolate advent calendars. I want a chocolate advent calendar. Where do I get one which has nice chocolate? (not Cadburys). *droools*
The strange Swedish creature and myself went to watch Mr Depp be the debauched Earl of Rochester in The Libertine. We were delighted. It was everything a film should be, and more. Mmmmmmm. Go see, lots of eye candy to gaze on (not forgetting
corchen's small but revealing part).
Yesterday was also delightful - I got to see my fav band RazorBladeKisses, and pretty
daevas cosplayed as the Mad Hatter. I severely hope that someone has photos of that, as I forgot my camera yet again.
Amd now bouncing at forecasts that it may SNOW later this week. SNOW! I want snow so badly. In the meantime I will amuse myself by kicking large piles of leaves around. *bouncies*

Small victory
Nov. 17th, 2005 09:02 pmI just hacked my DVD player to be multi-region. Hoorah! I should have done that long long ago. It was all very simple and painless. Now I can watch all my Azumanga Diaoh (Region 1) on my shiny big TV. Even more exciting, I can now borrow Nini’s Anime treasure-horde of doom and watch it all nicely.
Um....if you don’t see me for the next year, that’ll be me turning into an Otaku. Oh dearie me.

Nov. 2nd, 2005 08:28 pm*squeeeeeeeeeeeee* This week is Chocolate Festival Week (and why did none of you lot tell me earlier?? waaaaaaah). Lots of chocolate tastings and chocolate events around the country, but mainly here in London.
I want to go and indulge myself in chocolate goodness! *want* *want* *want*
Who wants to join me?

Shiny niceness
Oct. 20th, 2005 07:54 pmThings are shiny. Things are very shiny. Lovely
wingedharlequin provided me with emergency chocolate (it’s the nice Lindt stuff too!) which kept me alive last night. I have the first episode of the shiny new Parakisu anime, and lo, it is pretty indeed and done with all the proper pretty artwork, and even has music from Franz Ferdinand’s new album as part of the soundtrack. Shiny.
Even better, lovely
snow_leopard is visiting us for the weekend, should be here in about an hour and I’ve got tomorrow off and we plan lots of socializing and shopping and Synthetic Culture and anything else that seems like a good idea.
Am pondering this Dark Masquerade ball thing in Oxford. It sounds pretty. Should I go? *wonders*

Tube fares of doom!
Oct. 4th, 2005 08:32 pmTube fares next year
£3 minimum cash for a single tube ticket? *boggle*
Oyster card fares are going down. Cash fares are going into outer space. If you travel at all in London, *especially* if you’re just visiting for daytrips - get an Oyster card NOW.

Modern fairy tale
Sep. 30th, 2005 04:27 pmAwwwwwww! Fairy tale wedding of UK heavy metal musician to Ukrainian "princess". It's so sweet. I've suddenly gone all soppy. *bigsoppysigh*. Thing like this make me exceedingly happy. Why is that? *wonders*

A brief update
Sep. 5th, 2005 10:00 pmWaaaah! Been far too busy doing....er....*stuff*..... so a quickie on a few things I’ve discovered about the fab people I know, and other things too.....here goes...*deepbreath*
Send nice thoughts to my dear
cassielalone who is not feeling at all well and hasn’t eaten anything in days. *huuuuuuuuuuuuuuugs* Take care sweetheart.
I have to prepare for my next overseas adventure. From Thursday to next Tuesday I’m invading Amsterdam armed with several thousand boxes of chocolate, on a quest to find the sushi bar. Wish me lots of luck!
- Towersey is a fab festival, full of lots of talented people. And lots of people I’ve not seen in a while, such as Ant, who I’m more used to seeing haunting the Elsinore in Whitby. Yaaaaaaay!
mirabehn and
libellum can sing gorgeous unaccompanied duets together. People asked them if they’d got a CD out (obviously a strong desire to take them both home wrapped in plastic)
romauld is a truly great storyteller. Especially when it comes to pagan stories. Haunting stories always need to be told outdoors in the dark. *nods*
- There is a good reason why red wine is not typically served in pint glasses.
compilerbitch cooks gorgeous food for parties. Really really yummy curries and stuff. *lickslips*
- I’ve still not taken over the world. Just let me finish my tea first, and then I’ll get around to it.
doseybat knows lots of amazingly interesting people. She should throw more parties. Oh yes.
- I know lots of amazingly interesting people, many of whom live in Cambridge and who I’ve completely failed to visit at all recently. Having recently bumped into
mageboltrat briefly on Saturday, and Leo, Gemma and
livredor at the party in the evening, I’m now determined to keep in contact with them more, for they are all fab.
- Eating nothing for a day makes me very ill, and extremely feverish, and very very splat. I’m better now, I think.
- Starbucks Strawberry & Cream Frappuccinos are still the best drink ever.
- Oh....except Moniack Mead, which is the drink of the Gods.
damerell is still a mead fairy. Expect pink tutus any time soon.
- The world is even smaller than before.
- The Three Incestuous Sisters is a very strange and beautiful book.
- Watching all 3 disks of Pirates of the Caribbean back to back makes my brain go all fuzzy. ooopsie. I think I’m getting a horrible Depp crush. The Libertine will imminently be released in the US. We’re all doomed.
- Fushigi Yugi is very very silly.
kmazzy does the best party invitations ever. In the whole universe.
- Haibane Renmei looks incredibly gorgeous but my copy dies after 10 minutes leaving me shouting horribly at the screen in much frustration. Anyone want to put me out of my misery in letting me see a working version?? *hopefulnoises*
- I’ve still not finished reading The Silmarillion.
- I’m very strokable. Officially.
Send nice thoughts to my dear

Seems to work well, doesn't it? First, third and fourth matches are in fact matching aliases for the same person, so no surprises there. 2nd match is very sweet (awwwwwwwww!). 5th match are sisters, so thats also sweet. 6th match both used to be housemates until very recently. 8th match I really should have guessed. And 10th match was always going to happen *nods*
Finding new pretties
Aug. 22nd, 2005 10:49 pm*gorgeous* party full of very pretty waifs and strays on Saturday, some new faces and other more familiar ones I’d not seen in a while. Not sure my Lolita outfit was entirely waif-like, but it got a lot of praise, and that can only be a good thing so yay for that and big yay for meeting lots of interesting foppish people. Also discovered that Nini’s idea of how to mix a G&T involves far too much Gin, with fairly predictable consequences when applied to a lightweight
fluffymark. Ooops.
Sunday
cassielalone and myself finally saw CharlieJohnny Depp and the Chocolate Factory. Wow. Lots of Wow. Johnny Depp, in a velvet frock coat, top hat, and shiny purple gloves. Let’s repeat that, shall we? Johnny Depp, in a velvet frock coat, top hat, and shiny purple gloves. *nods* And he makes Willy Wonka be a totally sociopathic fruitloop. I loved it, all of it. What’s not to like? *approves*
And
wingedharlequin very kindly just now pointed me to t.A.T.u’s new video. *squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee* Yes, they’re back, they sound just the same, but the video for All About Us is dark in all sorts of fascinating ways. Worth watching even if you don’t like the music (but then, I like that too, but I’m just a sad fangirl).

Ham Sandwich or... er... chocolate?
Aug. 14th, 2005 05:59 pmAs I was boarding the plane at Stockholm a few hours ago I was handed a ham sandwich. And also an elaborate apology about strikes at Heathrow affecting onboard catering and this sandwich being the substitute meal. Ah well, was only travelling BA because it was cheaper than Easyjet or Ryanair. While it was a nice enough sandwich, I should have claimed to be a vegetarian, as the vegetarian option was a bar of chocolate. *droools*. Dammit if only they had told me!!!
You should now have guessed that despite BA’s best efforts to make me remain in lovely Sweden (missing it already *sob*) I’m now home in smelly London again. The past week all worked out just lovely. Having never spent longer than a weekend with my sweet
cassielalone, I’d been hugely excited although a bit apprehensive about spending a whole week with her on holiday. Not to mention her family too, who turned out to be absolutely fab. Of course it all turned out great and I’ve had the most wonderful and intimate time and I’m so so happy about it and so much in love i’m exploding with soppyness (yes, you can all puke now). *happysoppysmiles* I have had many good and strange adventures in Sweden. It is an odd place. Watch this space, as these tales will appear in a post here soon, after I’ve acquired photos from Nini. *nods*
No way I’m catching up with a week of unread LJ so prod me if there is anything you think I should know about. I hope you have all behaved? *raiseseyebrow*
