Forbidden Technologies are based in Wimbledon. We do video-over-internet development, and that snowcam is currently the fastest live video on the whole web. :)
What does it say on the "Java Console" (if you have that turned on?)
Security settings shouldn't be a problem - the video is streamed via http so it should avoid any firewall (except ones that block the whole web). I'd check the settings on the Java Virtual Machine (there should be a control panel for that somewhere....)
Let me know if you have any luck, or get any more detailed error messages. We'd tested the livecam on every system we could find, and yours is the first failure that isn't explained by other means (java not activated, or a prehistorically slow computer....). We'd like to fix it! :)
Works perfectly here (Mozilla 1.5/Gentoo Linux). Some other demos seem not to start though (e.g. "growing up in cities").
Cambridge is frozen solid (very, very cold) right now. The traffic was so bad ileft my car at the lab and walked, managing several times the speed of the traffic on Maddingley Road even though I'm not a very quick walker, I had a pulled muscle and I was being careful with the ice!
Good to hear the live works, will check the other demo. Hmmmm.
I got home in record time today - despite the snow the train I got on behaved perfectly (possibly due to there being a total lack of congestion due to so many *other* trains being cancelled). Yay! :)

On our annoying Panasonic network/PC setup designed to stop you doing anything I get an error when trying to view the web cam:
Exception: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: uk.co.forbidden.player.Ap[some more writing has wrapped off the screen]
Is there some security setting in internet exploder that I can change?
Hope you can get home ok - I'm kinda stuck here for a while...
