PhD Viva

The viva is 2pm Thursday 9th October. Eeep!

All are welcome to join me in the nearest pub afterwards, from about 7pm (or maybe earlier). Thats the Half Moon, Mile End Road, 1 minute walking left out of Stepney Green tube station.

Oh I always drive to London, it would take me about 2 hours plus on public transport into central london. Driving is a lot easier.

I'm working on it. I need to finish the work on the house so that I can sell it. So unless you want to come down and rip tiles off the kitchen wall, lay laminate floor and fit new kitchen cupboards and lay stair carpet, you'll just have to wait like everyone else. But I will be moving to London.

and massive quantities of reassurance. Given that you already have some very respectable publications behind you it is reasonable to assume that the core of your research is of a high standard so they aren't going to tell you that you've been wasting your time for the last two years. The worst that could happen is that they ask you to rewrite bits of it. Though I don't see why they should given that it was absolutely the best (and only) astrophysics thesis I have read.

I should be able to join you in the pub. Good luck with the move as well.

From what I know of your work I don't think you're in any danger whatsoever of not passing, but *goodluckhugs* anyhow.

It'll almost certainly be less bad tha you think.

Also, it's amazing how quickly three hours goes....

But then, I've only told you the good bits! Still, the good bits are good. And the pretty bits are pretty.

3 hours would have scared me before last week, but my job interviews last week were typically that long, and asking probing questions about my PhD work - I came out shaken, but felt I'd at least got that part of my abilities across OK.
