Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ooooooooooooooooooooooooow!

Well that was...er...interesting and unplanned. Just got back from the A&E at some random hospital in north London where I spent the night having stitches put in my leg. Yes, I've had no sleep and have spent the night with my leg in total pain.

Some overenthusiatic dancing at B-Movie led me to hit my leg against something, I later noticed a very nasty looking wound and my leg totally covered in blood. Eeeep. Lots of very helpful people did some very quick first aid. Millions of hugs and thankyous especially to [livejournal.com profile] snow_leopard and [livejournal.com profile] emarkienna who joined me in the long all night wait at the A&E (rant to follow, when I have time). Also hugs to [livejournal.com profile] arkady, [livejournal.com profile] reddragdiva, Nicolai and the random bloke in the toliets who first bandaged my leg, and anyone else who was helpful. *huuuuuuuuuuuugs*

Legs is ok but very wobbly now, the stitches are in, its covered in plasters but should be fixed soon. And i'm determined to not let this incident spoil my weekend, and as I can still walk, i'm now going to brave the trains and festival crowds and get to [livejournal.com profile] mirabehn's party. The prospect of sitting at home feeling all sorry for myself is not appealing, and I'd much rather be out and about doing stuff.

So must zoom now, as I'm already running late......will do full report when I have time.

What actually happened, from what I could see, was that there were several pint glasses standing on the edge of the stage and that when you and [livejournal.com profile] damerell were spinning round to Dead Or Alive's "You Spin Me Right Round", he managed to spin you off you your feet and onto the glasses which broke. You seemed initially to be ok though, as he picked you up and you both started spinning around again. After the song, I noticed you seemed to have blood on your hand and assumed you'd just cut your hand; it wasn't until later after [livejournal.com profile] _nicolai_ had produced micropore tape and someone had wrapped your leg up that I realised what had actually happened.

I'm still astounded that no-one had thought to call an ambulance or ask for the first aid kit behind the bar - all public places are required by law to keep a fully-equipped first aid kit to hand in case of emergencies.

I'm glad [livejournal.com profile] snow_leopard and [livejournal.com profile] emarkienna went with you to hospital; I felt guilty that I didn't go with you myself, but with two others in the cab beside you already, and Diva and Nicolai waiting for me it wasn't perhaps practical. (Still feel guilty though.)

I sent you a text earlier to see how you are; hope you don't mind that [livejournal.com profile] ali_anarres gave me your number but I've been worrying about you ever since the cab drove off!

Even when I'm dancing, unless I have my eyes closed I tend to have a very clear view of everything around me; and I think with the number of glasses being smashed that night perhaps a more paranoid part of my subconscious had already noticed the glasses and was nagging at the back of my mind that someone could get hurt. When you waved your hand around then headed off the dancefloor, I remarked to David that you seemed to have cut your hand on the glass; I did feel perhaps I ought to go follow you and see if you were OK, but by the time I'd managed to shout above the music to David about your hand you'd already dissappeared. I'm wishing now that I'd just gone with instinct and followed you straight off stage, as I'm sure David would have grabbed our stuff and followed me, trusting I'd explain all later.

I thought I had your number too, but when I checked my phone I found I hadn't so I texted [livejournal.com profile] feanelwa to see if she had it. She didn't, but she must have texted Ali to tell her I needed it. Of course I wanted to text to see if you were OK - I'd been worrying about you right from the moment I knew your leg was in that state, and carried on worrying until I read your LJ at David's yesterday afternoon!

*hugs*

As it happens, Sunday is the one day off I get this week! I'm supposed to be going to Kitty's for comics fun in the evening but I don't know what time that will be.

Which hospital is it? Your local one?

Oh, and having stitches out is much easier than having them put in; they have this wonderful little hooked blade that they just snip the stitches open with, and they practically pop out by themselves and it doesn't hurt at all. Far less traumatic than initially having them put in - but I do understand how any new and strange procedure can seem frightening, and a visit to the hospital is always easier if there's a friend along to keep you company.

Let me know where and when and I'll come along. :-)

Yes, I nipped to the bar at BiCon because I remembered there were a load of goths there and one of them would be bound to have it. Poor Mark! *careful hug* I hope it gets better quickly!

Er... ooops.

I've always had a nasty suspicion someone would get hurt doing that kind of thing but I usually expect it will be me.

Sorry, Mark.

Next time we'll make sure there aren't any obstacles, then.
