LOTR readthrough stuff

Maybe those of us travelling to Thatcham from/via London should arrange to arrive there on the same train, to give the lovely [livejournal.com profile] mirabehn and [livejournal.com profile] evil_nick less of a logistical headache? :)
There appears to be a train arriving in Thatcham at 19:06 on the friday, which is the one i'm aiming for, I think. Think I'll travel from Ealing Broadway, for quickness, cheapness and avoiding-paddington-in-the-friday-evening-rushhour-ness. Whats everyone else planning? *wonders*

If I ask nicely could some nice person print me off pages 3 and 4 of Episode 5? (thats the *new* version of episode 5). My printer still hates that bit. I'll love you forever. :)

I'm so excited. :) :)

Update: Make that the (direct) train arriving Thatcham at 16:40 on Friday. Looks like i'm being a small onion and helping [livejournal.com profile] the_alchemist brew Thai Soup for dinner.

Further Update: Apparently I'm doing the washing up instead of the brewing - bother! :/

i would print for you, except i fiddled with the margins A LOT on my copies to fit them on fewer pages. (i also fiddled with some of Elly's stage direction in some cases... ummm naughty me!)

[identity profile] mirabehn.livejournal.com 2003-07-29 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
I'm shocked!!!!! *giggle*

Nick did do some margin fiddling, actually, with the latest latest latest ones that are on the site now. That have page numbers and everything. Lalala! But I do approve of people doing the same and having less pages. Although of course you understand that having deleted one of my stage directions is a capital offence, punishable by *cut* special stuff...

*giggles*

I really shouldn't be encouraging you two. :)

Who, us? *bats eyelashes innocently*

Will do.

I'm driving (with [livejournal.com profile] andrewwyld so won't be on the train, but might be picking you up from it :)

Okay - just to check I've got the right bit - it's from Something is climbing the tree to before the dawn he went away.

See you tomorrow!

*gazes at the starriness of Liz*

I was going to ask you, actually, if you don't mind helping Nick with the to-ing and fro-ing. It's going to make his life a lot easier. Thank you. :D

*huggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggs*

looking forward to being intimidated by your great manly Boromir-ness in episode 5,

Frodo xx

ps Would you like to borrow our DVD of series 1 of the League of Gents? You can take it away with you on Sunday if you would like.

[identity profile] ixwin.livejournal.com 2003-07-29 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
We'll probably be arriving around 3ish - hope that's okay?

And is there space for me to stay overnight at yours (have sleeping bag) or should I make B&B plans?

Actually, I think Dernhelm is going to end up more manly than Boromir, who seems to spend most of his time sulking until he goes a bit doolally.

Borrowing DVD - yes please. Oh, and I have your [livejournal.com profile] adventurers stone.

Eeeeeeeee! Not long to go now!!
*bounces at Elly*

That's absolutely fine! :D

There will be space - it will be a squash, but there will be space. :D

I agree! The number of times I wrote:

Boromir:[Belligerently]

I deleted most of them as I thought whoever ended up reading him would probably get the idea... *grin*

I've realised that over the course of the readthrough, Nick will be your brother, husband and father. Aaaarrrgggghhh! Tubbs and Edward!!!!

Borrowing DVD - yes please.

And soon you will understand the reference made above. *grin*

Oh, and I have your adventurers stone.

*bounces bounces bounces* eeeeeeee!! :D

I'm afraid that yours will have to wait a while longer - I haven't forgotten though. *hugs*

Eeeeeeeee! Not long to go now!!

*bounces at Whiz! bounces at Whiz!*

That sounds like a good plan. Paddington station's just next to my work anyway (if I happen to be at work on Friday afternoon..)

Must practise this music - haven't done anything vaguely LOTR related for the last 2 weeks...

*grin* You know that's actually something of a relief, as I now don't feel nearly as bad about the fact that I still haven't told you that Yves would like her songs transposed (including the hobbits walking song - as, indeed, would Kathryn and I as it's rather ridiculously low at the moment).

I'm going to be e-mailing everyone individually today and giving them lots and lots of (hopefully) helpful information. In your case this will include details of exactly what those bits and pieces will be transposed to...

good luck, Pippin!

love,

Cousin Frodo xx

[identity profile] purplepiano.livejournal.com 2003-07-29 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yay - transposing's no big deal, as those bits are all unaccompanied. We should just be making up the key on the spot anyway like the hobbits would!

Only accompanied bit is Sam's Gil-Galad song, but that'll be easy to transpose.

Eek - and there's all my Pippin stuff to look at as well!! We're all settled in the house now - finaly got our wireless networking sorted and shoved the server in the garage to clear some space in the house - so time to get to work on LOTR now!

*huggggggggggggggs*

You're such a star. :D

Actually (eek! I hate laying more stuff on you.. :() I've realised that there is a little more sheet music we'll need - the line or so that the Minstrel (Sam P-F) sings in episode 12. Are you okay to transcribe that and send it to him/put it up on your site? He's a quick learner and it's not a long line, so if you can't do it straight away that's probably fine.

You're doing superbly well, and I'm awed by how efficiently you and Lynnette have manage to move! Bless your nugs and your boses. :)

*fluff*

Elly

[identity profile] mirabehn.livejournal.com 2003-07-29 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
eeeeeee!! Thank you - that would be very helpful. :D

*Although* - it would be even helpfuller if people could arrive a wee bit earlier than 19.06 - I'm just thinking that given a provisional food-serving at 19.30, it would be make things vastly easier to have as many people arrived quite a bit before then as possible, so that we can sort out their stuff, get everyone acquainted, settled and (looks hopefully at the weather) nicely warmed by the sun in our pretty garden before dinner. Also Catriona will need minions for making the Thai soup, and in working out the rota I had put your good self and Lynnette down for that task...

Having said all that, the timetable for Friday evening is pretty flexible, as is the cooking rota, so don't worry if arriving earlier just isn't convenient. :D Could you all let me know asap what you decide? Then I can work things out accordingly. I'm going to e-mail everyone individually today and tell them everything I think they need to know (you know, the capital of Zimbabwe and stuff ;) ). I'll include the timetable/rota as I've worked it out so far just for convenience' sake, but it can always be changed nearer the time.

Incidentally, Nick is happy to pick people up from Newbury instead of Thatcham if that helps anybody - I know that there are slightly more trains that stop at Newbury, so it might give you a few more options to play with. :)

I'm so excited. :) :)

<b><big*BOSE*</b></big>

And you what? So am I! Not stressed, not wibbling, not depressed. I'm absolutely bouncing with excitement. *bounces all around the room*

Although if Nick carries out his threat to play Elrond as a League of Gentleman character (he's been threatening Judee Levinson and even Pam Douve, for those that know... eek!), I might not turn out quite so relaxed. *grin*

See you on the Cracks of Doom, Smeagol!

love,

Hmmmmmmmm the formatting there went slightly odd. There was supposed to be a bose, and no random boldness.

Anyway, here is the bose:

BOSE!

Also Catriona will need minions for making the Thai soup

Is that a kind of small onion? Like a shallot? She could probably get those from Al-Amin down Mill Road in Cambridge :-)

Probably a good plan if I'm going to get time to run through the songs with people and set up all the scary equipment with Andrew! And eat the minions :)

If you're turning into Gollum I advise you not to look at [livejournal.com profile] evil_nick's most recent post, in case you get very alarmed... ;)
