Yaaaaaaaaaaaay! We won the Nunt!

Yesterday Joe and Penny organized a fun Nunt (Treasure Hunt type thing) around central London. Several small groups of us teamed up, starting at Waterloo, competed to to hunt down the treasure waiting for us at the end. This was done by solving cryptic clues, working out where in London to go, and finding the desired answer to each clue, whereupon the next cryptic clue would be delivered (via SMS). Our adventures made us zigzag all over central London. I was teamed with Meg and Chris, and victory was mainly achieved by us being the only team to know that the `Winning Station' in the penultimate clue referred to Mornington Crescent (if you'll excuse the pun, the other teams really didn't have a clue) and thus were the first to arrive at Primrose Hill and find the treasure box (full of chocolate and alcohol. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Go us! :) :)

Primrose Hill is very pretty, and I'd not been there before, and has delightful views over London, and is an ideal (although crowded) picnic venue. I'll be pushing for picnics there in future, anyone interested? :) Also nearby is Marine Ices, who serve some of the best ice-cream I've had since Rome. Yummy yummy yummy. :) :)

Whee!

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Everyone should go to Marine Ices, I can't believe it wasn't full on a hot day like yesterday. The pasta and pizza are pretty good too, it's very like a Roman pizzeria. If anyone reading this doesn't know about it is on Haverstock Hill directly opposite Chalk Farm station.

Love

Penny (who simply had to check if you'd enjoyed the Nunt and will now return to LJ purdah)

Somehow I got hideously lost driving back from Camden last night and saw some new and mostly pretty bits of London. Almost worth the ludicrous amount of petrol I wasted.

Next time though, I'll try getting lost there on foot when I don't have to be anwhere else by a sensible time.

Want ice cream now!

Someone told me that the Victorians wanted to solve their overcrowded cemetery issues by building a pyramid of dead people on Primrose Hill.
