Farewell to Seventh Harmonic *sniff*
Jul. 7th, 2003 04:15 pmI'm getting fat.
Actually, maybe not. But I've put on 5kg!!! This is astoundingly good news. Visiting
alektoeumenides on saturday was certainly a big contruibution to this. Why? Because Val and her mother appeared to be having a competition to see which of them could stuff me full of calories the most! Eeeep! I was stuffed so full I thought they were fattening me for dinner! I think Val won, as she used yummy russian chocolates. Very more-ish. Yum! I was feeling very bloated and happily full. I think my stomach is in love.
The Seventh Harmonic gig was full of surprises. Despite feeling highly unsociable on sunday, I still made it to the gig at the Verge. I'd not dressed up much, and went on my own and and planned to hide in a corner and hoped nobody saw me. Unfortuately the Verge is one of those teensy tiny intimate standing-one-metre-from-the-band venues and was heaving full of people, and hiding was a problem. I'm very glad I went, and got there early - the first band, an unknown to me (Razor Blade Kisses) enchanted me. Two pretty female vocalists, accompanied by a guitar, a bass, a violin and a flute. And all dressed up in gorgeous asian looking outfits designed by Paul Garside. Mmmmmmmm. A band I'd love to hunt down a bit more. Next was Misnomer (rap *ugh*) and Excession (standard goth sound, nothing special). Then the ever lovely, ethereal and ever so slightly smutty Seventh Harmonic, playing their last ever gig. Shockingly I've not seen them in about two years, and their sound has significantly improved over that time. It was a memorable final performance, but saddening to know it was the last one. Hiding from people didn't work quite so well. I found myself chatting to
ladycat in the queue, and once inside I was spotted by both an Eilish and a
caro7. Caroline indroduced her girlfriend Leslie(sp?) to me and they make an adorable cute couple! Awwww! Wish good luck to the both of yous! Emz made a late and unexpected appearance, and i was suddenly pursuaded to be sociable. Caroline promptly revealed herself to be Emz's librarian at St. Martins, to much bemusement. Small world! It was about his time I heard someone falling over behind me, and turned just in time to see
laumiere collapsing. Poor sweetie was having blood sugar problems. I'm kicking myself for not spotting her before she had to depart. I unfortunately didn't notice time passing, and by the time I'd said farewell to Seventh Harmonic after the gig, the last tube had departed. We were stuck in Camden! So Emz and myself had quite a big and very scary adventure getting back home.
I now have the sponsorship form for the LOTR readthrough (thanks
mirabehn!) and so will inevitably be inflicting it upon people when I next see them. B-Movie on friday sounds like a good place to start. And thinking of which, who's likely to be there? :)
