I love the way that's actually its name -- it's like when dinosaur hunters descover a new, even bigger version of the brontosaurus than the last one and call it gigantosaurus, hugeosaurus, absolutelyfingmassiveosaurus etc. :)
Just like those silly names for large astronomical telescopes, some of which don't seem very large anymore by modern standards. I think theres the Large Telescope, the Very Large Telescope, the Extremely Large Telescope and the Overwhelmingly Large Telescope. And the next one will be?
Looking at that BBC news page, it also appears that the standard length measure of Large Marine Animals is the London Bus (which presumably abbreviates to LB). The Sperm Whale is just over 1LB, whereas the Colossal Squid is a massive 3LB long. I just wonder how the got the london bus down that deep so as to make the measurement.
