Marching for Peace
Sep. 29th, 2002 12:53 amI rarely have strong views on political issues. But sometimes something happens that makes me think....'That's very WRONG' and I want things changed. The current warmongering that's going on over Iraq is surely lunacy. So rather than just sitting at home complaining about it, I went out and took part in the Anti-War Rally. And I think we got the message across, so many people turned up (400,000 so they claim) that we paralyzed central London. They'd not expected numbers like that, and the police had to rapidly close more and more roads (some still with traffic stuck on them!), including the strand, as these vast crowds of people flooded the surrounding streets. We shouted, chanted, waved our banners for our campaign of peace. We marched from Embankment to Hyde Park, where there were speeches and things, which I would have loved to have heard, but by that time I was hungry and very exhausted after a few hours standing and walking around so I headed for home.
