While baking more cakes this evening, a question of paramount importance arose:

How many Hundreds and Thousands actually are there in the Jar?


Just looking at the jar, it's obvious that there are many more than a hundred, even many more than a thousand of the little round coloured sugary objects in the jar. But how many? In a highly curious frame of mind, I put it to myself to investigate.

Two methods were used. Firstly by weight. I poured out what I estimated to be about 1000 of them onto my weighing scales, which told me that this many weighed 2 grams. The jar said it held 80 grams, which would be 40,000. The second method was by volume. Estimating the volume of a single hundred and thousand (a cubic millimetre) and then measuring the dimensions of the jar, and a quick calculation of how many hundreds and thousands would fill that volume, gave an answer of about 60,000.

So I claim there are about 50,000 hundreds and thousands in a jar. If anyone can improve on my methods or come up with a more novel way of counting them, I'd be delighted to know! *curioussmile*

PAH, using such inferior stuff (says the girl who usually resorts to marg because she has nothing else in her fridge...).

What you need is chocolate butter. Or berry butter. Or even better, coconut and chocolate butter (guess who has been investigating the flavoured butter situation in her local universam?)

Hee hee. Bring your best cake recipies when you visit :) Although my oven seems a little tempremental. I'm not used to electric ones, I'm used to the ones you almost singe your hair on when trying to light it!

I'm sure chocolate butter is just butter icing actually. If you just melt chocolate into butter I suspect the lack of sugar/dairyness might cause weirdness to happy. The stuff I had tasted pretty much the like butter icing - very sugary. I can't comment on fruit butter yet though...I guess you could make that with jam...hm *looks thoughtful*.

If you like I'll bring a mountain of the stuff for you from here. I can see it already - my bag will be full of things for you, nothing for anyone else and a few items of clothing.

Butter icing is yum indeed...*mmmm* I think I'll be buying some flavoured butter this evening (I did find three rubles when I tidied up my classroom after all...*grin*)

I'll see what I can do about bringing some flavoured butter back - don't worry about the bagspace, it is a worthy cause! Any particular requests? Let me know. But if my stuff gets covered in butter, you'll suffer for it! *grin*

What do you take me for? The cierki were a foregone conclusion! DUH! I shall be bringing a bag for my mum, a bag for general distribution (read: addiction) and a bag just for you and whoever you care to give them to! You will have to share them out with Emily in the very least: they are sooooo yum! Dunno if veggies can eat them though...depends on how strict they are...you may well torture Catt with them...and Joe Marshall will definately be tortured with them *evil laugh*...ah well, his loss. The word must be spread about cierki! Perhaps the "Russian" deli down the road from my London home sells them? Whistful thinking I fear. Still, we can always hope *grin* There are so many different brands, it's quite silly! But the one you get adverts for is called "Chuda" - they do yogurt and milk too.

Maybe there's a website?

Anyway, must dash, have to interview a prospective student for assessment! EEEP! What responsability!
