Fischerspooner (Review)
Jun. 21st, 2002 11:49 pmWell that was....Fun! :) Yay! *bounce*
I got a text message very late last night 'Fischerspooner playing tomorrow evening Royal Festival Hall', which resulted in a very spontaneous 'yes!' from me. Adventurous, given that before today the only Fischerspooner I'd ever heard was the video thats showing in the Pompidou Center in Paris. So the band were.....a total unknown to me.
Now I'm a convert. Oh wow. What an *amazing* performance. Ok it *is* more performance art than music. Very much Sigue Sigue Sputnik. (the attitude being 'who cares if I can't sing, i'm wearing a fab outfit! Look at me!'). Even if the entireity of the set was lip-synced (which he admitted to, and even joked about onstage). The music is totally electronic. Synths. Synthpop. Think 80's. Big hair. Very Goth. Oh yes! *bounce*. But.....the music wasn't the important bit (even if it was bouncey!). The show.....so many costumes. Costumes changed every song (and getting changed onstage!), all very extravagent, often crossdressed. Yay! And a troupe of backing dancers that are *so* taken straight out of the 'Cats' musical. And much much glitter rained down on us audience. And much much fireworks went sparkle. And much bouncing was done. Yay! Lots and lots fun!
