Drain closure

It’s all woe woe woe. The drain has closed for the summer. They’ve closed my Waterloo and City Line (mine, I tell you, it’s all mine) until September. Meanies! Do they realise what horrors this will do to my commute? I am not impressed. I mean, there’s 2 stations and 4 trains. What in the world can they be doing that takes 5 months? They could bore a whole new tunnel in that time. Or any number of other things. In fact, I bet they are, and it’s all a conspiracy. Maybe someone is doing secret experiments sending rubber ducks through the empty tunnels all summer. Or they’re going dragon hunting, as the dragon might fall asleep when there’s no noises of trains. Or you tell me ... what is going on down there?

They're replacing all the track and overhauling all the trains.
Also, there's a sea serpent down there that they're going to transport back to Loch Ness.

But the Waterloo and City line doesn't go to Loch Ness! -- or does it?

The monster came down on the train for a visit but the delays were so bad it gave up hope of ever getting home, and decided to stay :)

Could be worse - they closed the circle line exit at my work station last November. This means that to get to work now, I have to exit from the other side of a very big, traffic infested square, negotiate said square (about 5-10 minutes of risky road-crossing) and then walk 15 minutes down the hill to work.

I have opted for an alternative route that has me leave from a different station and doesn't involve risking my neck on the road.

They will only re-open the exit THIS November. Thats one whole year to replace 4 escalators.

Beat that.
