fluffymark | Giving up dieting for lent

First day of lent, and someone brought a huge and very yummy chocolate cake into the office. *lickslips*. Therefore, I am resolved to give up not-eating and therefore to stuff myself silly. Is this missing the point? *wonders* Last week I excelled myself in cooking vegetarian curry for *5* people and it was divine. I should do more of that. I like being able to cook again! *bounces*

Also - the brick of doom has been conquered. I have finished reading War and Peace. Finally! The epilogue is fascinating, isn't it? *nods* Now off to read something a bit ... er ... shorter. Probably with lesbians in. Or maybe my Norway guidebook (yes, I'm considering a trip to Norway as it appeals to my sense of strangeness!) Or something.

Postman has been bringing happy goodness this week. Firstly, a shipment from Japan bringing some Moi meme moitie goodness. Then a nice box containing Gin Truffles. And I'm expecting a big box of goodness from Amazon containing Chobits and Haibane Renmei and more goodies imminently. *happysmiles*

Have you seen Princess Tutt, by the way? If not,you should; the story is wonderful, the whole thing is gorgeously pretty, and it features a large amount of ballet.

Princess Tutu? I've seen an anime music video containing bits from it, and yes it looks very pretty indeed. I must watch it.

Dancers at the end of Time? I know it also has a certain brick-ishness to it but it's far more uplifting and fun. (In a wonderful and pretentious way.) I easily get through that in no time at all 'cause it's just such a good read! Or the idea about lesbians seems like fun too.

You think like me. Yes, I have been reading Dancers at the end of Time. And it is most good. Very pretentious, and very clever. The language used is simply wonderful. I'm loving it, and am anxious to get back to it as I want to see what strangeness happens next!

clockworkwasp. The thing is, since then I've been looking at the website of CDJapan who export their stuff here, and noting they have 50% off sale on many pretty clothes. Still stupidly expensive, but just about worth considering. It's so tempting.

One friend of mine who has given up chocolate, got her own back on another friend of mine, who said she'd given up buying lush products and books for lent. We all thought that was a bit easy, particularly her boyfriend, and then lo and behold, my non-chocolate eating friend suggests a visit around the charing cross road seconhand bookshops. Whether she forgot the recent earlier opinion, is a matter for the jury to decide........!

No way I could give up lush and books. That would be too much, I fear. I adore charing cross road bookshops, I could LIVE in them. Not taking that away from me. I did give up chocolate for a year one time, not sure how I managed that. Never again.

I'm going to the gothic choir thing, I think Rose would not allow me NOT to go. Think I'll go for the standing one later as she says that will be better. Looking forward to it (but i must get myself a ticket!)

Yes, I have to admit, have a big box of lush stuff udner my bed and as for those bookshops - heaven! - i went there last weekend and came back with a couple of bags! Heaven is an old dusty bookshop full of old favourites and new surprises. Or at least one heaven of many good things!

So maybe my friend is going to be worse for wear than my other friend!

So I heard - and saw your earlier post about the very gothic kitchen. Hope you were all able to sort everything out - sometimes I think inanimate objects conspire against the human race to get their own back for being mere manual labour workers! Was sorry to hear about your plant,as I have one I am very fond of, had him for quite a long time, and they don't talk back! ;) - but had a couple of other plants that I liked, die on me after being moved or something. :(

Try looking for RazorBladeKisses songs "The Butterfly" and "Deadly Yours", my favourites. Lots of violin goodness and pretty words. I'll play thme to you sometime if you have difficulty getting them. I'm sure you'll love them. I hope they play in London again sometime soon.

I spend hours getting lost in those bookshops. So much good stuff in there. Plus theres ladders to climb and dusty cellars and lots of creaky floorboards. Someday when I own a castle it'll have a library like that. *dreams*

Kitchen appears to be sorted now - Rose is truly lovely and paid excessivly for new stuff (even though she can't afford it) and we have a shiny new kitchen. I'm getting excited about cooking again, and comign up with good ideas. Just ask Rose about the curry I made the other week. She's been wanting me to cook more like that, so when you visit, maybe I can be pursuaded to do the cooking magic again. Not that I ever follow recipes, so who knows what will happen? *wonders*

Sad about my plants. That's the most upsetting of all. :(
