January involved lots of Anime, Manga, many seasons of Buffy and rediscovering my Jonathan Rhys-Meyers obsession, hiding indoors and not getting out much at all, other than seeing my lover but even then we stayed very much indoors *smallsmiles*.

My social life got a kickstart last Tuesday, where I was ambushed while walking past the Cambridge Blue by a Mr. [livejournal.com profile] weaselspoon and a Mr. [livejournal.com profile] strongtrousers who dragged me into the pub. They went on to tempt me to sparkly glittery burlesque goodness in Brighton. I also discovered that I get very very giddy on only half a pint. Super lightweight. Oh dearie me. *meeeep*

Wedding season has started early this year. Happy for lovely [livejournal.com profile] isobell and her wedding far off in Finland, and I’m dying to see photos of her in the wedding-dress-of-much-prettiness. Closer to home, a “wedding” of a more sapphic bent was the big event of last week between the sweetest couple ever - [livejournal.com profile] caro7 and [livejournal.com profile] mal1, for which I went to the hag[1] night. Good to see the lovely couple themselves, and especially nice to catch up with many others I’d not seen in years, notably John and Alice, and the ever pretty and talented Eilish. I got bought lots of drinks. I got lots giddy. *oooops* Looking forward to more weddings in the summer months! *yay*

Which brings me up to the weekend and [livejournal.com profile] verlaine‘s Karaoke outing of doom, along with [livejournal.com profile] the_alchemist, [livejournal.com profile] gnimmel, [livejournal.com profile] purplepiano, [livejournal.com profile] absinthecity and ..er...*flailsarmsuselessly*...lots of nice goths with lj names. I was actually impressed by the quality of some of the singing. And amused at the badness of it all. I bowed to popular demand, and sang not only It’s a Sin, but also Barbie Girl, the latter duet done solo, and can only be described as absolutely terrifying. The 2 hours whizzed by and we never got to sing anywhere near as much as we wanted to, so I’d certainly be up for that again sometime. *nods*

We still have no heating. Lovely [livejournal.com profile] happygoff is being the official bestest landlady ever and has bought a shiny new combi-boiler and that should get installed on Thursday, hopefully. Things are looking up. We now have a shiny new cooker! But the evil Currys forgot that I’d paid them to install the thing and so we have don’t as yet have a working cooker. I got to strop at them lots on the phone today. We plan to get the boiler man to install the cooker too, so maybe it’ll all work out nicely. It’d be the bestest birthday present on Thursday to have both cooking and heating working. Am wishing very hard. Wish with me!

Arrrgh! Yes, yes .. it’s that time of year again. I’ve been a muppet and not made any big birthday plans for Thursday. However, I will be in the Dev in Camden for [livejournal.com profile] glenndm’s birthday drinkies on the evening of Wednesday 15th, so if people want to join me there, that’d be nice. If you buy me slightly early drinks and birthday presents then, I’d be smiling lots.

[1] Not convinced that hag night is the right name for the party before a lesbian wedding. I think it needs a name. Any good suggestions? *wonders*

Yay for Marks having fun!!

Sorry I never got back to you about a singing lesson: offer still stands. Sounds like your Barbie Girl was better off without one anyway. I'm sorry I missed that, but delighted you all had such a good time. :-D

Can't believe they call it that.

Vagitaria..?

Pen night works, for those who know a little bit about swans, but it'll never catch on.

Fen night, 'Dutch night' and Zuider Zee Revel all work well, what with the obvious connotations about dykes. But somehow, I think that someone will be terribly offended.

We need a classicist to offer inspiration, here.
