The Now Show
May. 17th, 2002 01:27 pmYesterday I had a gorgeous and pretty evening out with catt. As the sun was shining and it was a nice day to eat outside, we headed to the Waterside cafe at the Barbican. Which has a lovely outdoors bit, which unsurprisingly, is by some water, and theres lots of pretty fountains and things. Assuming you look past the fact the food counter looks like a school canteen and the Barbican itself is like a suburban university campus, it's actually very pretty. There were flowers *everywhere* and the sun was perfect and theres a pretty church just across the water. And the food (I chose salmon in spinach sauce) is utterly divine. Some people are right, there are bits of london that are very very pretty.
Our main destination for the evening was the live recording of the Now show for BBC Radio 4. A friend of catt's had managed to get tickets (the BBC website gives them away for free, you just have to ask for them!!) to see this wonderful little comedy some being recorded, so off we went to some hidden studio somewhere near Goodge Street. Small world syndrome hit when we bumped into steve there who I'd been introduced to at whitby. Goths...they get everywhere!! *shakeshead*. And the show was the most funniest thing I've heard in a very long time. I was in giggles most of the way through (mind you -i'm easily amused, but this was seriously funny!). It had the effect of really cheering me up and more than made up for all the woes and tragedies of earlier this week. A perfect evening out.
I was feeling so good that when I got home I even found the courage to phone
duranorak and found her even sweeter than I'd thought possible. *melts*

Date: 2002-05-18 05:27 pm (UTC)So yes, I am indeed in london next weekend. Friday night I'll be at popstarz at the scala for meg's birthday. So if you *are* at a loose end of friday and think you can put up with indie/alternative/80's music (unfortunately not always the best but it's a *lot* better than most clubs) and a whole load of gay men then feel free to tag along with us. Although i'm sure you'd have already thougth of better things to do with better people. I'm not I've got any definate plans for the rest of the weekend, but at some stage i'll have to do a lot of work, but that should be fitable around meeting people, given enough notice. And I've promised catt the next sunny weekend I'm taking her to hapton court or a picnic at kew or elsewhere, so that may be happening depending on the whims of the gods.
Other than that, I'm a free spirit. Stake your claim. *giggle*

Who, me? ~g~
and a whole load of gay men
~cracks up~ No, of course I can't put up with that. Not me.
I'm still not sure what's happening Friday ~frowns at people who won't get back in touch with her~ so I can't give you an answer on that just yet, but in any case I'd be *awfully* shy and probably not the best of additions to your night. Sunday, however, is largely free, and if you'd have any time to meet then, I would really *really* like that.
I should, hopefully, get an answer about Friday tonight. I'll let you know as soon as I can.
~bounce~

Date: 2002-05-20 12:09 am (UTC)I would probably rather be shy and nervous on Sunday, if that's ok, although...~looks around~ if my original Friday plan doesn't work out, and I don't go with you, I'm left with a fairly awkward alternative. Oh, I don't know. ~exasperated sigh~ I'll get back to you when He gets back to me. ~beats head on pocket brick wall~
