Oyster card fares are going down. Cash fares are going into outer space. If you travel at all in London, *especially* if you’re just visiting for daytrips - get an Oyster card NOW.

No. An Oyster card used only for prepay and weekly travelcards does not have to be registered.

I don't know if they would actually try and make it mandatory, but I know I'll be very upset if they do.

It used to be mandatory, but they stopped it being mandatory a few months back. Unlikely to reverse it back now, I think.

I have registered my Oyster card because I prefer it that way - it'd cost me a fortune if I lost it if it was unregistered.
