Erk!

While discussing the power structure of the catholic church (as you do), I decided to try a websearch on a related subject and got back the disturbingly pertinent message:

We apologise, but Papal Infallibility is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.

Well yes. Quite.

That's a mercifully succinct version of events.

I was thinking about this... who looks after the souls of all the catholics till a new pope comes in? Maybe the current pope carries on with it as a filler from upstairs... but then you would think he would be pretty busy with all the meet and greets etc.

And on a vaguely related note, why are all the canditates for the job so old?

The candidates are all so old because even talented individuals rarely become bishops before middle age.

It is wierd to think of religion having a career ladder. I suppose experience is a good thing but then again there is a lot to be said for energy and enthusiasm too.

Maybe I will put in for the job myself :)

Doesn't seem odd to me, I believe there's one hell of a hierarchy in the church and always has been.

Hmmm... hierarchies in lots of religions, but the idea of it is crazy. Levels of holiness.

lol :)... I heard it was going to be a big italian cheese, but I could be wrong. So that would be mozarella then.

Maybe they have a waiting list, like in Asda at the cheese counter.

The BBC were really going too far when he was dying. They kept having more and more debates in the Have Your Say section, and there's a limit to how much you can say about, "Yup, the Pop is still dying." I spotted one entitled: "No change in the Pope's condition: your reaction".

The mirror had commemorative plates advertised on sale by sunday morning.
