First drafts of the thesis-that-will-not-die should be ready tomorrow. Bizarrely, some of you lovely people have expressed intrerest in helping proof read it. The monster is 50,000+ words written in a text editor, and typeset in LaTeX, the only checking so far has been done by the lovely [livejournal.com profile] snow_leopard. It will eat the office supply of paper when i send it to the printer. Eeeeep.

As I'm going to Glastonbury on thursday (and much fun that will be - just found out [livejournal.com profile] alektoeumenides has located a ticket and will be there! *happysmile*), the plan is I get copies to people before then, and hopefully by the time I get back you'll have spotted all the mistakes. So if you want a copy, let me know ASAP.

The last week have been very eventful in lots of good ways. The next week promises to be even more eventful, in even better ways.

Oh, and I've not read the Harry Potter book yet. So don't remind me about it (actually i'm kind of hoping someone will buy me one, but thats me being optimistic. However, if anyone wants to make me very very happy...). I went bookshopping on saturday for other books, and i must have been the only person in the entire shop not there for the book-that-is-a-brick. Some people were buying enough bricks they could build a whole house with them. Maybe they were.

good luck with the thesis...! I used to work as a proof reader... however, I suspect your English to be a tad bit better than mine..

aspell has a TeX spell-checking mode which will check LaTeX source.
I presume ispell does as well.
Otherwise use detex to convert to text and then check using Word or somthing.

Congratulations...

on first draft. I don't think I can make the sacrifice of proof-reading whilst at Glasto. But I'm happy to read the chunks in English any other time.

Hope to see you Wed at which point I should have Vals train ticket (cross your fingers). You may need to tape up my mouth if you haven't read HP&theOOTP by then...mumfle mumfle mumfle.

Ie I've not read Harry Potter: maybe someone can bring a copy to Glasto and it can be my tenttime reading?

Anyways, well done you! Whee! Good luck getting the rest of it out soon! Will see you soon!

Joe or I might bring it along on Wed night so that one of you can pack the-book-that-is-a-brick. But we aren't so nice we'll just carry it for you.

Be warned though, you might find yourself choosing to miss Radiohead in order to find out the secret.

Which is mumfle mumfle mumfle...
