Cambridge and Coffee and things
Sep. 28th, 2004 12:14 amI appear to be inhabiting the wilds of Cambridge for most of the weekend. The delightful
yvesilena is throwing a housewarming soiree on the Saturday, and on the Sunday myself and
the_lady_lily will perfect the art of drinking tea under the table and in the evening Ed, who I’ve not seen since he’s become a Fellow, has invited me “To Feast Before Braving the Treacherous Passes of the Misty Mountains in the Cold and Orc-Infested Winter”, which all sounds very exciting.
I suspect there will be an excess of free time, and there are many of you lovely people who live in Cambridge who I either know well, but haven’t seen in months/years, or who I don’t know at all well but wish to know better. I’d love to spend some Quality Time with people, so please give me a shout anyone who wishes to see me and we’ll arrange something nice to do.
As if that wasn’t enough of the fens, I plan to return to Cambridge again for the Calling on Tuesday the 12th, and head to the Arts Theatre on Wednesday afternoon to see
the_alchemist in Oedipus the King, performed in ancient greek, no less. Again, I’ll be looking to fill in the free time by meeting lovely people.
Plus I need to plead the desire for crashspace for both the above visits. Please? *hopefulsmile*
On a different note, for the past few weeks I have been joining an intrepid group of friendly strangers in meeting up for a chat over coffee in Borders. Anyone in London with a liking of Coffee, Cake and/or Books should be made aware of
karen2205‘s weekly “Coffee at Borders”. This seems to have stabilised to tuesday evenings from 6 onwards - we meet at the Starbucks on the 2nd floor of the Oxford Street shop, and is open invite to anyone who wants to chat in surroundings that don’t have loud music or alcohol to inhibit the flow of intelligent conversation. Radio 4 will make me not arrive until 7:30 like last week, I fear.
Certainly time for bed for me now as I need to get up very early tomorrow to hold
snow_leopard’s hand at the eye hospital before work. Shouldn’t be anything to worry about, but those places freak me out, so she’ll be in quite a state whatever happens. Wish us luck.
