Twelfth Night at the Globe
Aug. 22nd, 2002 11:28 pmYep, Shakespeare again. I'm obviously making up for all those years being a geeky science student. Twelfth night, one of my favorite Shakespeare plays, is being performed at the Globe Theater, with a traditional (all male) cast. And......weeeeeelll......*melts*. Quite where they found those androgynous beings that played Viola and Sebastian I don't know, but I want one!! or both! I saw them first! Besides the cute men, the theater itself is amazing, it's all mock authentic, and is done *very* well, and is very very pretty. The authenticity also extends to there being no roof, resulting in a little wetness, but we got cheap standing places, and got right up next to the stage, more akin to a music concert than the theater. Thinking of which, the pre-show antics were very Fischerspooner - the dressing room was right behind the stage and they had opened the drapes so the audience could watch all the dressing up and wigs and makeup being applied to the men! Hooray! :)
