Presumably, he found some fault with the positioning of the boiler or the routing of the flue or somesuch. If so, he can't fix it. (Also, he may not have the necessary gubbins with him to fix arbitrary defects in arbitrary appliances anyway.) Have a *hug*. Might I suggest obtaining an electric fan heater in the meantime? Not the best way to keep warm, but better than freezing your feet off.
