Death in June, Christmas and Tie-dying
May. 7th, 2002 02:48 amIt has been a very fun and eventful weekend. So much so that I'm only now catching up with my journal. Saturday was shopping for things to dye. Having said I'd probably wander off on my own, rather than trundle around random shops with catt, martin and
sheridanwilde, I managed to find a whole heap of dye-able things in the very first shop I tried. Bought two large curtains, and large sheet and a long flowy skirt, all white and ready to be made more interesting colours. A great find! Go me!!
So I spent this bank holiday monday tying the gorgeous things up and applying the dye. The curtains are now a wonderful deep shade of purple with a beautiful pretty and delicate circualr patterned effect on them. Now drying ready to be put up as I write this. The sheet and the skirt turned out to be disappointments. Black dye was applied, but the tieing appeard to haev *no* effect - maybe the dye was too strong? The end product was a totally black sheet and skirt with no patterns. Oh no! :( :( :( :(
Saturday was also the evening for the Death in June / NON gig.
excelsis has written an excellent review of this and I don't think I can do better, so if you want to know how wonderful a gig this was (and it was totally awesome!!) then go read his review. Tristan disappeared immediately after the gig and I didn't get much chance to talk to him. Pity. Gig turned into Slimelight, and I had a completely unexpected encounter there with doseybat. It was good to see her as I've been worried a *lot* about her. Bounced manically at everyone there (helped in part by whittard's chocolate covered expresso beans) and had a great time. Had to be dragged out physically when the rest of my freinds wanted to leave around 4am. Ooops.
Sunday was Christmas day. No, *really*. Ok, so we just pretended it was, and it worked. I don't know what happened, but it ganed that elusive magical atmophere that only christmas day seems to have. Catt cooked a christmas dinner (vegetarian turkey roast, with roast potatoes, stuffing and cranberry sauce and gravy with *two* christmas puddings with finest rare (and very expensive) greek brandy for afters) for me, our housemate Mark, and also Martin and
sheridanwilde who were visiting. Mark dragged down his playstaion and hooked it up to the TV in the front room and Martin and Sheridan spent all afternoon playing amusing games on it. It was so *right*....so magical....just so christmasy. Who says christmas only happens once a year?
